That’s just how the world works
Tensions are high
Yet nobody utters a word
Hearts and minds are unsatisfied
They always have been
Since the beginning of time
That’s just how the world works
Change is only something we can make
In our own lives
If change was necessary
It would have already been done
I may not like it, and I may suffer
But that’s just how the world works
My desires are only a fantasy
They have never come true, and they never will
I feel isolated and out of touch
What did I do wrong?
Radicals speak out, radicals get punished
That’s just how the world works
If the radicals requests were reasonable
They would have already been done
I have a dream
But the others would never understand
Though my day will come, and change will follow
Then the radicals will be silenced
Why complain when I lived better
Than my father?
If I work hard enough, my son will
Live better than me
If I was worthy, I would have power
That’s just how the world works
They could make it too someday
If they weren't so misguided
-----------------
Excuse me?
They are calling me
The world has changed
They say it’s for the worst
Don’t worry, this won’t affect you
Says a voice of authority
It doesn't matter how I feel
If change was made, it was necessary
That’s just how the world works
